Overlooking our corner on 7th and Q Street NW, the Dacha Loft is our new bespoke private events venue. We invite you upstairs for the latest iteration of the “Dacha Experience,” where guests can enjoy fine-dining food and beverage menus in a modern yet, warm rustic interior. The vibrant space is not only home to private events, but also our Supper Club and an art gallery with rotating art exhibitions.

The History of the Loft
The house at 1602 7th Street NW was built by George D. Burch (1838-1894), a bookbinder for the U.S. Government Printing Office. The Burch family lived in the building and ran a “fancy goods” store on the first floor. Extended family in the house included George’s sister Elizabeth, her husband Alex Groves and their daughter Maggie; he worked as a stonecutter, and she worked as a clerk in the federal government. In addition to the extended Burch family, they found room in the house for two borders named Julia Tucker, age 23, and a government clerk and Isabelle Constall, age 19. They paid a monthly rent and had daily meals with the family.
In the years and decades following the Burches family, the house on the 7th street saw many transformations, from a barbershop, a bakery, an ice cream parlor, a sandwich shop, a neighborhood employment agency and a food carryout.
Today, the upstairs loft is once again a vibrant space as the home for our supper club dinner series, an art gallery and private events. Our experienced and attentive service staff, talented Chef, and professional event planners will bring your next special occasion to life with joyful, lifelong memories.
